Dead Paper

"My letters! all dead paper, mute and white!
And yet they seem alive and quivering..."

Forward
Backward
they told us we were nothing
but hands and feet, and tired
lungs. made of dust, destined
to return.
but we are more,
yes, we are each distinct souls.
they told us to forget the past
when we were royalty, beautiful
sons and daughters of a majestic
king.
but we’re worthy,
yes, we are worthy of kingdoms.
they told us the words on our
lips were unfit for prayers, and
our thoughts, unfit for fantastic
dreams.
but we will dream,
yes, we will dream the universe.

they told us we were nothing

but hands and feet, and tired

lungs. made of dust, destined

to return.

but we are more,

yes, we are each distinct souls.

they told us to forget the past

when we were royalty, beautiful

sons and daughters of a majestic

king.

but we’re worthy,

yes, we are worthy of kingdoms.

they told us the words on our

lips were unfit for prayers, and

our thoughts, unfit for fantastic

dreams.

but we will dream,

yes, we will dream the universe.
